Christmas Card 2013

I'm a few days late, but wanted to share our Christmas card and join Faith's Christmas Card Carousel! I found our card this year on Minted.com. I have used them before and love all of their unique cards. I wanted something simple and after browsing several sites found what I was looking for. Our family LOVES the beach, so I thought I would use two of my favorite pictures that David took from our vacation in Gulf Shores. It is such a happy place for all of us so what better picture for our Christmas card.
Here is the front and then we added another picture and greeting to the back.

I also love DoodleBugs Paper and buy labels from her to coordinate with our card every year.

This month we have enjoyed receiving cards from family and friends. It's one of our favorite things. I hang them up so we can enjoy them all season long.
You can check out all the other Christmas cards on Faith's blog!

O Christmas Trees!

December is flying by and we are trying to enjoy every minute! I feel like I have been running in a thousand different directions since we have had only three weeks to get it all done before the big day. Here are a few pictures of our decorations....I'll start with our trees.
Our family tree..
and a couple of new ornaments I bought this year. Home is Where the Cat is...
had to get that one for Nick. Also, picked up this one from our Gulf Shores vacation.
McKenzie's tree...
Matt's tree...Go Dawgs!

Ok, this is Matt's creation!
As you can see Matt has his Daddy's sense of humor. I am sad to report that Matt has announced that he no longer believes in Santa or Henry our Elf. Sniff, Sniff. He confessed it to McKenzie the other day and made her pinky promise not to tell us. He thought we would be mad. We were a little sad but not mad!  He told us that he got to thinking about it and how could one man deliver all those toys to kids. Ha.  So now we let him take a turn hiding Henry.

On a different note, Congrats to Matt!  Today, he was awarded Super Charger of the Week for his 2nd/3rd grade school! He was so exited!!  Way to go, Matt!!

Our Weekend

We had a great weekend. We decided to go to Memphis Saturday to do a little shopping and eating. I needed to pick up a few things for the kids and then we are always up to Barnes and Noble hanging out/reading. Matt bought himself a book and had it read by Sunday afternoon. McKenzie bought a book and is working on it, too. We ate lunch at The Arcade. It was sooo good.

We rode through downtown and I couldn't get over all the Ginkgo trees everywhere. They are bright yellow.

Of course we saw a trolley or two for Matt.

Sunday we went to church at David's old home church FBC Itta Bena. We love visiting there and the people!  The preacher preached a great message on Thanksgiving.  (This is David:  During the announcement time, one lady stood up and said, "I have something to announce, preacher.  ROLL TIDE!!!".  Only in a Southern country church.....)  Of course we are always going to eat wherever we go so it was The Crystal Grill for lunch. We were stuffed after eating there and it was hard to keep our eyes open driving home. It was a busy weekend but lots of fun times!

On a different note...Matt won Honorable Mention at the reading fair that was held this past Friday at his school. I had to laugh when I picked him up from school he came running out saying,"Mama, Mama I won a ribbon today." I said well Matt what place did you get?  He said, "I don't know!!" Little boys!! Way to go, Matt! We are proud of you.

Reading Fair/Happy Birthday Nick!

Matt is entering the reading fair at his school tomorrow. He chose a book we had here at the house, If You Take A Mouse To School. It is a cute book and Matt had fun doing all the art work for his backboard.

Someone else wants to go to the reading fair, too! Good luck, Matt!

Nick celebrated his second birthday this week. November 13th is the day we adopted him from the Greenwood animal shelter. He was a few months old so we always say that is his birthday. I have had cats my whole life and Nick is the sweetest that I have ever seen! He is like a little person and is so funny.  He is quite partial to Matt as you can see in the pictures. He thinks he has to do whatever Matt does. So thankful we were able to adopt him!

Memphis Grizzlies

Friday night Matt, Andy, Caleb and I went to the Memphis Grizzlies first home game of the season.  Matt has really gotten into basketball and it is his favorite sport right now.  We had such a great time and I had to share some pictures and a video of how much Matt enjoyed the game.  Memphis came from behind to tie the game with 8 seconds left and then won in overtime 111-108.

We got home just after midnight.  This is Matt on Saturday morning trying to wake up.

Happy Happy Halloween!

Trick-or-treating was moved to Wednesday night due to the bad weather that is supposed to come Thursday.  The kids love to go trick-or-treating and they love handing out candy.  Matt was a ninja and McKenzie was a 50's girl.  Matt told us before we went out that he wasn't going to say "Thank you" after people gave him candy.  He said he wasn't being disrespectful, but since he was a ninja, ninjas don't say "Thank you" they just put their hands together and bow so that's what he was going to do!  That boy is a nut!  Here are some pictures from the night.

The second "Happy" in the title is due to the Boston Red Sox winning their third World Series in the last nine years!!!  There was a time when I didn't think I'd ever see them win ONE World Series and now they've won three!  Just a great night all the way around.
