Fall Decorating

Fall is my favorite season of the year! I have enjoyed decorating and wanted to share what I have been up to the past week. I think that I have as much fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving decorations as I have Christmas stuff! One day I dream of having a big attic with shelves where I can organize all of my seasonal decorations. I know you do too, Amanda. That would make me so happy!!
This is our buffet in the kids' play area. I have their cute Halloween buckets on it. The kids take these trick or treating to hold all of their goodies. I bought those at Chaney's and I believe a girl from Jackson painted them and personalized them for me. I love their names or monograms on everything...That is pumpkin man between them. Bought him a few years back.
This is my kitchen counter where I put my lighted ghost house, fall leaves and greenery(hard to see) and pumpkins in my McCarty bowl.
Matt is showing you our pretty orange mums. I always plant either yellow or orange mums right here for good color.
I love to do container gardens and this is one for fall. It has mums, varigated ivy and creeping jenny. When the mums quit blooming I will replace them with pansies and kale for the winter.
Here is a close up of our front porch. I love my scarecrow and have had it since McKenzie was a baby. Matt loves to talk to him. I found these cute pillows at Target a few years ago. I have iron pumpkins beside the bench but you can't see them. Love iron stuff!
Close up of my iron scarecrow. I found this cute zebra print ribbon last year and had to have it!
This is the top of our roll top desk. I used burlap, fall leaves, pumpkins and wheat stalks. Hope you enjoyed the pics. McKenzie will probably want to show you her decorated room in another post. She is very into decorating. Gee...I wonder where she gets it from???

An Interview With McKenzie

McKenzie is our 7 year old second grader who loves to sing and dance. This is an interview I had with her tonight.

David: Tell me how second grade is going this year.
McKenzie: It's fun because we get to write cursive and we get to have a Bible story and we get to sing.

DC: What's been your favorite Bible story?
MC: Moses. God did a lot of plagues and Pharaoh wouldn't let them go. Then the death angel came and whoever didn't have blood on the doorposts would have a death to their firstborn.

DC: What's your favorite song?
MC: Our Song by Taylor Swift

DC: What's your favorite thing about your teacher, Mrs. Welch?
MC: She's nice and she's funny.

DC: You really enjoyed first grade last year with Mrs. Jones. What was your favorite thing about her?
MC: She gave us Fun Friday and she's funny.

DC: Tell me about your little brother, Matt.
MC: He's nice and he's funny and he plays with me a lot. He holds my hand when we go to the car wash because he's scared.

DC: Tell me a funny thing that Matt has done.
MC: He ate a cookie and got cookie all down his stomach!

DC: What would you like to be when you grow up?
MC: A teacher because it looks fun because you get to write on the board and you get to control people!

DC: Do you have a boyfriend?
MC: NO!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!! (Good answer)

DC: What is your favorite thing to play?
MC: School.

DC: What do you want for Christmas?
MC: Nintendo DS, a new microphone stand, an eye exam machine, a new WebKinz

DC: What is your favorite thing that you've done in your life so far?

Movie

David and I saw Fireproof yesterday afternoon in Starkville and it was a wonderful movie that everyone should try to see. Kirk Cameron did an awesome job in the movie. The end was my favorite part! I won't reveal it since some folks reading this might want to see it and I don't want to spoil it for you. The movie had a very powerful message about marriage and how to show unconditional love to your spouse.
McKenzie and Matt had a lot of fun at Nana and Grand's. They went to see Matt's favorite train buddy Mr. Glenn and watched the model trains he built. After we returned from Starkville, we all went to eat at Central Service Grill, then headed home.

Two And A Half!

Today (Sept. 26th) Matt turned 2 1/2! Betty doesn't like to hear that -- she wants to believe that Matt is still an infant. Matt celebrated his 1/2 birthday by waking up at 5:30 a.m. After that it was just a normal day for Matt, eat and run at full speed until nap time!

Saturday we'll do our normal breakfast and Wal-Mart thing. McKenzie, Matt and I go to breakfast at KFC every Saturday morning with my nephew Caleb and usually my brother Andy and his wife, Jan. Then, the three kids and I head to Wal-Mart. This Saturday we're going to go to my parents' house in Eupora and drop the kids off and Betty and I are going to go see the movie Fireproof. Betty will probably post a review Saturday night.

Here I am!

Well, here I am! I have officially joined the blogging world and I know that there will be several happy people out there. David, McKenzie and I will be posting and keeping you up to date on all the things going on in our life. I am excited about it because I enjoy reading others' blogs and look forward to learning more about how to create my own. Thankfully I have my live- in IT guy to help me along the way because I don't have a clue.

We are enjoying the cooler weather around here. I have been decorating the house for fall and Matt is loving all of the pumpkins. He has to go in every room and have me plug them in. Tonight I caught him in the playroom giving the big pumpkin a kiss goodnight. Can't wait for Christmas. It should be a lot of fun this year! McKenzie is having a great year in school. Her words in the car this morning were...Mama, I love Mrs. Welch. She is also loving her dance classes. This is her first year to take and she is really enjoying it. We love for her to come home and show us her new moves. Can't wait for parent's night in November when we can go and see her dance.
