Happy Happy Halloween!

Trick-or-treating was moved to Wednesday night due to the bad weather that is supposed to come Thursday.  The kids love to go trick-or-treating and they love handing out candy.  Matt was a ninja and McKenzie was a 50's girl.  Matt told us before we went out that he wasn't going to say "Thank you" after people gave him candy.  He said he wasn't being disrespectful, but since he was a ninja, ninjas don't say "Thank you" they just put their hands together and bow so that's what he was going to do!  That boy is a nut!  Here are some pictures from the night.

The second "Happy" in the title is due to the Boston Red Sox winning their third World Series in the last nine years!!!  There was a time when I didn't think I'd ever see them win ONE World Series and now they've won three!  Just a great night all the way around.

Congrats AC!

We would like to say congrats to our niece, Anna Catherine. She was chosen as a beauty at the Kirk Beauty Review Thursday night. McKenzie and I went and had a great time. She had quite the cheering section of family. It was also fun for McKenzie to see her 7th grade Kirk friends in it also. It's hard to believe all of her friends are so grown up. They did great!
We are proud of you AC! You were beautiful!

Happy Halloween!

It's almost that time again. One of the most fun nights of the year for us. Can't wait. I have been stock piling candy for all our trick or treaters. Last year McKenzie declared that it was her last year to dress up but the past few weeks she has decided that she does want to again this year. So, she wants to go as a "50's" girl and Matt is going as a Ninja. Here are a few pictures of Halloween around our house.

We had fun Saturday. We drove up to Oxford for lunch and knowing that it was a football weekend, we avoided the square where we usually like to eat. David suggested Buffalo Wild Wings and it was so good. It has a really neat atmosphere especially on game day. David had been on a couple of business trips and wanted us to try it, too. We had originally planned on going to the movie Grace Unplugged, but we got to the Cinema and it wasn't playing at that one but at the new Malco on Hwy 7. Ugh, we were so disappointed. We didn't even know they had another Cinema. It was no way we could make it in time to see it at the other one with all the game day traffic. Oh well, we can always rent it when it comes out. So, we went to a few stores and then we  satisfied our chocolate cravings with chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate pecan clusters at Rocky Mt. Candy Factory. So good!

Dawgs and School

Saturday McKenzie and I went to the Mississippi State football game.  It was the first college football game McKenzie has been to and she had a great time!  The game was closer than it should have been but we had a lot of fun.  Here are a few pictures from the game.

Tuesday night was open house at Matt's school.  We loved being able to see what Matt has been doing and let him show us around.  We got to talk to Matt's teacher, Mrs. Keys, and his LEAP teacher, Mrs. Waters.  Matt is having a great year and we are so pleased with his teachers!

Crock-tober: Salsa Chicken

Today I am linking up to Crock-tober on The Larson Lingo blog. It is where you share your favorite crock pot recipe.
Crocktober 2013

I love my crock pot. I use it year round. It is especially nice on busy nights when everyone is going in different directions. My favorite recipe is Salsa Chicken. My family is a big fan of mexican food, so they love this dish cooked all day in the crock pot. I serve it over a bed of rice. Hope you will try it for your family.  This is so good and easy!! We are having it tonight!

                                               SALSA CHICKEN

1 pkg of chicken breast tenders
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1 cup of salsa ( I use mild)
1 pkg. taco seasoning
1 cup of sour cream
add of top when serving...shredded cheddar jack cheese and black beans

Directions:
Put chicken, soup and salsa in slow cooker.
Sprinkle taco seasoning over everything.
Cook on low for 6 hours.
Remove chicken from slow cooker and shred.
Stir in sour cream at the end and add the shredded chicken back to the mixture.
Serve over rice. Sprinkle cheddar jack cheese and black beans over salsa chicken. Enjoy!

Pumpkins/Fall Nesting Link Up Party

I am so excited that Fall is here. It is my favorite time of the year for many reasons!  I will be decorating for Halloween soon but did put out a few fall touches here and there the other day. I have a neat collection of pumpkins that I have been collecting for years. I like to put them throughout the house.

Tonight I am linking up to Inspired Room's Fall Nesting Linky party.  So check out the other posts and maybe you will be inspired, too. Happy Fall!

This is my Peter's Pottery bowl that I keep on our coffee table. I love to keep seasonal things in it. I just took out our shells from the beach and now have pumpkins, pinecones and acorns for the fall. Probably for Christmas I will put cinnamon scented pinecones in it.
Love my fall magazines, where I find lots of inspiration and good ideas.

One of mine and McKenzie's favorite things when the weather turns cooler...hot chocolate!

I have my porch all ready for the season. And yes, I do love mums!
