Pictures

Here are some pictures I took this weekend of Etta Jennings.  We were originally scheduled for last weekend but we decided to put it off because it was so hot.  We were hoping for some cooler weather and we got a beautiful day!  Click here to see more pictures.

Happy Friday!

We are always happy around our house when its Friday! Matt wanted to go to school early so he could "play", so David took him. It must be really great to be in Pre-K!  Here is a funny picture of Matt before he left for school.  He loves to make faces and is always making us laugh with the funny things he says all the time. Just like his Daddy!!

McKenzie was really excited to go to school today for three reasons! First of all they get to wear what they want because of school day pictures. Who knew something like this could make kids so excited?  But I guess when you wear uniforms day after day, it is a treat. Today Dr. Jackson (her principal) announces class of the week. I think this is a huge deal and McKenzie wants her class to get it so bad. Thirdly, today is Reading Buddy Day. Her class is teaming up with Mrs. Oakes' kindergarten/first gr. class. Each student is paired with a younger child and they get to read to their child. McKenzie got to choose her own book. The classes will then do an activity/craft with their child, then play on the playground. This is right up McKenzie's alley. She is a "little mama" and I think I could really see her being a teacher one day. Here is McKenzie in her picture day outfit.  Happy Friday, Everyone!

Fall Is Here!

Today is the first day of fall but it doesn't feel like it! It is so hot here but hopefully there is relief in sight by the weekend. I hung my new fall wreath on the front door that I found this weekend at Hobby Lobby. I added a bow that I used last year.

I will use this wreath until I decorate for Halloween in a couple of weeks. I was in Hobby Lobby heaven this weekend. They had every kind of fall/ Halloween decoration you could imagine. I really had to exercise self control in that store!

A few weekends ago I found these cute fall mugs at Family Dollar! I thought they looked like something found in  a gift shop, so I snatched up four of them. McKenzie and I love to drink hot chocolate once it gets cooler, so these will be perfect.
I can't believe it is already the end of September. I wish time would slow down. McKenzie and Matt are really growing fast. Here is a picture of Matt playing with his trains in the dining room aka "the train room". I always tell people that I will someday buy dining room furniture but right now it is more fun to watch Matt do something he loves. It is the perfect space for all his train stuff.

Birthday Week Is Over

Birthday Week is officially over.  I think Betty had a good week.  Tuesday night (her actual birthday) Betty and I went to Greenwood to eat supper at Lusco's.  It was really good!
This was our booth.  It was kind of weird eating in a little room behind a curtain!
Betty got grilled shrimp in Lusco's sauce and homemade onion rings for an appetizer.
I got shrimp over angel hair pasta with a pesto sauce.  It was really good.
We finished it off with Chocolate Sin.  Lord, I apologize...

Friday, we went to Memphis to spend the night.  We originally planned on going to the zoo on Saturday, but it was too hot and we're gonna wait until it cools off (if it ever does).  We ate at two of our usual stops in Memphis.  Friday night was steak and chicken at the Side Porch Steak House and Saturday morning was breakfast at Miss Polly's on Beale Street.  The waitress at Miss Polly's recognized us when we came in and asked how many waffles we wanted today.  That's sad when you are recognized as regulars at a place for breakfast two hours away!  What can I say?  We like to eat!!!
This is the only picture I took during the weekend.  The kids were so excited about going to Memphis and staying at a hotel!  Matt packed his own suitcase Thursday night.  He packed toys, train books, and his blankets!

We hope you had a great Birthday Week, Betty!!!

Happy Birthday!!!

Today is the most revered day of Birthday Week.  It is Betty's actual birthday!!!  She (and Marty) have now left their 30's behind and enter their 40's!  They don't look it, do they?

Betty, I hope you have a great birthday!  You are a great mother and a wonderful wife!

We love you!  Happy Birthday!

Birthday Week

Sunday was the official beginning of Betty's Birthday Week!  As you can see from the candles on the cake, Betty is turning 40 this year.  We started off Birthday Week by going over to Granny's Sunday afternoon to have a little party for Betty and Marty.
Here's the birthday spread.  Matt was sampling the M&M's
Here's 80 years' worth of twins!!!
Amazingly, they both had enough air to blow out all of the candles!
After the party, I celebrated by getting a flat tire and changing it behind Arnold's Furniture Store!
After supper we broke out Betty's cake and celebrated some more.

Betty's Birthday Week will continue with more festivities all week culminating in a trip to Memphis this weekend to eat and go to the zoo.  Happy Birthday Week, Betty!!!

Welcome Back Fall!

I love fall and so excited that it is almost here. I spruced up the front with mums in my containers and sunflowers in the wreath. I plan on doing more but want to wait till on in September. I have some cute new things for Halloween that I can't wait to use. Here are a few pictures...

If you love decorating like I do then check out The Inspired Room blog. She is hosting a "Fall Nesting Party".  I have had so much fun the past few days looking at all the cute ideas and getting lots of inspiration.

SouthernLiving.com is a neat website, too.   Here is a great video of fall ideas that I found on the website. Love it!

Rhett

Sunday afternoon I got a call from our good friend and faithful blog follower, Sherry.  She told me that she wanted me to take some pictures of her grandson, Rhett.  I said, "Of course! When?" and she said, "Can you do it today?".  So, an hour later we were out at the lake taking pictures!  Sherry's daughter, son-in-law, and grandson were in town visiting so we had to take the opportunity while it was here.  Rhett is almost one and he did great!  Here are a few shots.  Click here to see more.
